About the Chicago District Camp Ground Association

The Chicago District Camp Ground Association has been a place of solace, spirituality, and camaraderie since the 1860s. Nestled along the Des Plaines River, this remarkable site has played host to some of the most renowned religious leaders of the past, including Billy Graham, Billy Sunday, and D.L. Moody. During its heyday, revivals held at the campground would often attract over 10,000 people, highlighting its importance in the history of American religious gatherings.

Comprising 35 acres of picturesque land, the Chicago District Camp Ground Association has a rich architectural legacy, featuring white frame cottages and other structures dating back to the 19th century. The campground’s undeniable historical value led to its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
